Brendale intersection safety improvements

February 08, 2018

Design is currently underway to improve safety at the South Pine Road and Kremzow Road intersection at Brendale.

Member for Pine Rivers Ms Nikki Boyd said the busy intersection required upgrading to improve traffic flow and reduce the potential for crashes.

“There have been a number of crashes involving vehicles turning at the intersection and rear-end collisions as a result of the right-turn lane congestion extending into the through lanes,” she said.

“Motorist safety is a priority at this location and this project is anticipated to have significant impact on reducing the number of vehicle collisions.

“The proposed upgrades include installing a CCTV camera to monitor traffic movement and lengthening three of the right-turn lanes on the intersection approaches where crashes can occur.”

Ms Boyd said Transport and Main Roads would work closely with local businesses and residents to ensure any potential impacts were addressed before the design was finalised.

The $500,000 project is funded under the State Government’s Targeted Road Safety Program, which aims to improve road safety and focuses on implementing high-benefit, cost-effective solutions to prevent crashes and incidents on Queensland roads.

Design is scheduled to be completed in early 2018.
